A brand-new Nature Discovery Centre will be built in Piasau, Miri, positioning it as an important marine eco-tourism hub in northern Sarawak.

The project is initiated by the Sarawak Government with an estimated cost of RM30 million. Construction has officially begun, with completion expected by August 2027.
Once completed, the centre will not only enhance the facilities of the Piasau Nature Reserve, but also serve as:
• Marine ecology education centre
• National parks management office
• Conservation and research coordination hub
• Interactive nature exhibition space
It will also help coordinate the management of:
• Miri-Sibuti Coral Reefs National Park
• Luconia Shoals National Park
Based on the released design visuals, the building features a modern eco-architecture concept, blending waterfront elements and marine-inspired design, and is expected to become one of Miri’s new eco-tourism landmarks.

Location: Opposite Piasau Nature Reserve, Miri
Start of construction: 5 August 2025
Expected completion: 4 August 2027
