In conjunction with the 68th National Day celebrations, the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will open Malaysia Royal Police (PDRM) discount counters at all Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (COPS) offices statewide from 26 to 28 August, offering a 50% discount on eligible traffic fines.
The initiative aims to ease the public’s financial burden and encourage settlement of outstanding summonses during the National Day period.
The measure reflects this year’s National Day theme and underscores the government’s commitment to public welfare and unity.
The discount applies to fines issued under the Road Transport (Compounding of Offences) Rules 2003 that are eligible for settlement via payment.
10 Types of Offences Not Eligible for the Discount
1. Offences involving traffic accidents
2. Cases under trial
3. Offences related to heavy vehicles
4. Dangerous lane-cutting
5. Misuse of the emergency lane
6. Tidak Boleh Kompaun (NC) — non-compoundable offences that must be settled via court proceedings
7. Running a red light
8. Overtaking on double lines
9. Improper exhaust modifications
10. Offences committed during “Op Selamat” operations
The public is reminded that despite the discount, all road users must continue to follow traffic laws, as Sarawak police will not compromise with any violators in order to ensure road safety and protect public interests.
