Starting May 1, Sarawak’s amended labour law will come into effect.
Maternity leave increases from 60 to 98 days, and eligible fathers get 7 days of paid paternity leave. Weekly working hours are reduced from 48 to 45. The law also introduces flexible working hours, better employee housing standards, anti-discrimination protections, and equal rights for all workers regardless of salary or job level, aligning Sarawak with national and international labour standards.
