Sarawak has fully banned open burning to prevent haze, even though current air quality is mostly moderate.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the Disaster Management Committee is on full alert. Local committees have been told to mobilize their teams and respond quickly to any fire outbreaks.
He also said all open burning permits were cancelled two weeks ago by the Natural Resources and Environment Department. No open burning is allowed in any form.
Authorities are waiting for the latest air quality report this afternoon and will continue daily monitoring to stay prepared.
