Following continuous heavy rainfall that caused flooding in several areas,
a meeting was held on 10 January 2026, during which the Sarawak Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID Miri) presented updates on three major flood mitigation projects in Miri and discussed measures to expedite their implementation.

The Sarawak Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID Miri) is the government technical agency responsible for flood mitigation, river management, and the planning and maintenance of drainage systems in the Miri area.

Its key responsibilities include:
