The newly opened Miri Central Bus Terminal, in operation for less than 6 months, revealed serious building defects after a heavy downpour yesterday afternoon. Multiple sections of the ceiling leaked badly, with rainwater pouring down like a waterfall, raising public concern.
Inspection at the site found at least four areas where water seeped through the ceiling, mostly around the large support pillars.
In addition to indoor leakage, significant water seepage was also observed in the concealed gutters along the building’s exterior, with continuous dripping from the eaves, suggesting potential flaws in the drainage system or waterproofing design.
Initial suspicion points to possible dislodgement or improper installation of the gutter and drainage pipe connections, causing poor water flow. However, the exact cause remains under further investigation.
