The woman, “natalisi_taksisi,” said she paid $600 USD for three nights but only got $168 refunded from the booking site. The hotel refused further compensation.

After the story spread, many people expressed fear and shared similar experiences of strange smells in APA hotels. Some even canceled upcoming bookings. Others suspected the man could have been a hotel staff member since hotel key cards are usually controlled internally, and criticized the hotel for allegedly hiding the truth.

Park Hotel, built in the early 1970s, was Miri’s first high-rise hotel, featuring a ground-floor retail area with a ticketed parking system. While the retail spaces were mostly non-air-conditioned, shops with air conditioning proudly advertised it to attract customers.

The original 1970s parking system remained in use until 2017, although the parking layout had become inadequate for modern vehicles. Unable to keep up with competition from newer and more modern hotels, Park Hotel ceased operations in 2017, marking the end of an era in Miri’s history.

With the rise of newer, more modern hotels offering better amenities, Park Hotel struggled to remain competitive. By 2017, it had ceased operations, officially closing its doors after serving the community for over four decades. This marked the end of an era, as the hotel was once a symbol of Miri’s burgeoning urban landscape.

Legacy and Abandonment: By 2019, the building lay vacant, standing as a relic of Miri’s early strides toward modernization. Although abandoned, it continues to be a significant part of the town’s history, serving as a physical reminder of the growth and change Miri has undergone.

Park Hotel was not just a building but a milestone in Miri’s journey to becoming the vibrant town it is today.

Both towers will be connected by clubhouse floors at levels 10 and 18, catering to condo and hotel residents. Positioned near major business, tourism, and shopping destinations, the project aligns with the latest green building standards.

HSL, the developer, is enthusiastic about partnering with Ascott to bring Langit Citadines to life. Construction is slated to commence this year, with an estimated completion timeframe of two-and-a-half to three years.
