Proton e.MAS 7: Malaysia’s First National EV

The Proton e.MAS 7 marks a major milestone as Malaysia’s first fully electric vehicle (EV), developed in collaboration with Geely and based on the Galaxy E5 platform. Launched in December 2024, this mid-size electric SUV is available in two variants—Prime and Premium.

Both variants are powered by a 160 kW electric motor, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 6.9 seconds. The Prime model features a 49.52 kWh battery with a range of up to 345 km, while the Premium variant offers a 60.22 kWh battery and up to 410 km of range. DC fast charging is supported, allowing a 30% to 80% charge in about 20 minutes.

Inside, the e.MAS 7 offers a modern driving experience with a 15.4-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability. Safety is ensured with a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping.

Priced from RM105,800 (introductory), early buyers also receive a free home charger, V2L adapter, and 5 years of in-car internet. Local assembly at Proton’s Tanjung Malim facility is planned by the end of 2025, with export efforts already in motion.

The e.MAS 7 represents a bold step forward for Proton and a key moment in Malaysia’s transition to sustainable, homegrown electric mobility.
