PM Declares September 15 a Public Holiday, Creating a 4-Day Weekend for Malaysians

Putrajaya, 23 July – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that Monday, 15 September 2025 will be declared an additional nationwide public holiday in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebrations.

This special holiday aims to honour the spirit of unity and the significance of Malaysia’s formation, while also encouraging family reunions and domestic tourism.

With this announcement, Malaysians will enjoy a four-day weekend from Saturday (13 September) to Tuesday (16 September) — an ideal time to return to hometowns, reconnect with loved ones, or plan a short local holiday.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated that this gesture is also a show of appreciation for the harmony and togetherness that define the nation, while promoting meaningful time spent with family during the Malaysia Day period.
