PM Announced RM100 Cash Aid for All Adults on National Day

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced a one-off cash aid of RM100 for all Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above in conjunction with National Day on 31 August 2025.

Anwar also noted that this is the first time in the country’s history that cash assistance will be provided to all adult citizens.

The Prime Minister made the announcement during a special address to the nation broadcast live on local television this morning. He clarified that the assistance will be given on an individual basis, not per household. For example, a family comprising a husband, wife, and two adult children will receive RM400 in total.

The aid will be distributed under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme and can be used digitally through MyKad. It will be available for spending from 31 August to 31 December 2025 at over 4,100 participating stores across the country, including major supermarkets such as Econsave, Mydin, Lotus’s and 99Speedmart, as well as local retail shops in every district.

The initiative is expected to benefit around 22 million Malaysians, involving a total allocation of RM2 billion. With this, the combined allocation for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and SARA will increase from RM13 billion to RM15 billion in 2025.
