The old Pujut Bus Terminal in Miri will soon be transformed into a one-stop seasonal fruit centre, the Miri City Council announced.
The initiative aims to support local fruit growers, promote tourism, and boost the city’s economic activity. Starting 1 September, interested traders can apply for an operating licence through the council’s Public Health and Licensing Department. Each stall will be charged a monthly fee of RM200, encouraging small farmers and local vendors to take part.
Fruits to be sold at the centre will include durian, langsat, pisang, mangosteen, rambutan, tarap, cempedak etc— all known for their unique Sarawak flavour and cultural significance. These fruits are popular not only among locals but also with visitors to Borneo, especially during the peak harvest season.
Due to limited space and expected high demand, the council advises applicants to apply early. For more information, contact 085-442451.
