Parking fees will be introduced at the Marina Fish Market area in Miri beginning May 2, 2025. This implementation follows Section 3(c) of the Road Traffic (Parking Places) (Miri City Council) (Amendment) By-Laws 2012.
The decision was made due to frequent complaints that parking spaces intended for fish market customers were being occupied by nearby office workers, making it difficult for shoppers to find parking. Introducing parking fees aims to better manage the availability of spaces.
A total of 79 designated blue zone parking spaces (coded B/2M – Fish Market Marina) will be available. Parking payments can be made via a smart parking app or by purchasing parking coupons. Enforcement action, including fines, will be taken against those who park illegally.
The public is urged to cooperate with the new system to improve traffic flow and enhance public services.
